Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons coffee simple syrup (recipe below)
  • 2 to 3 dashes Mole or Chocolate Bitter (Angostura Bitters works, too)
  • 1 piece orange peel, including pith
  • 2 ounces rye or bourbon

Instructions

Combine coffee simple syrup and bitters in an Old Fashioned glass. Fill glass halfway with ice, and stir about 10 times or so. Add more ice so that it fills the glass. Twist and rock the orange peel back and forth over glass (you will see the oils spraying from the peel), drop the peel in glass, then add the whiskey. Stir just until drink is really cold.
